newborn chick beanie

(this pattern is without the earflaps!) this pattern could have mistakes. please let me know when you find anything (: Thank you!


Worsted Weight Yarn
3,5mm & 3,0mm hook

using 3,5mm size hook
round 1: ch 4 (counts as first dc), dc 11 times in last ch. sl st in first ch. (12)
round 2: ch2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around, sl st in first dc. (24)
round 3: ch2 *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st* repeat * to * around, sl st. (36)
round 4: ch2, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st* repeat * to * around, sl st. (48)
round 5-10: ch2 dc in each dc around, sl st. (48)
round 11: ch2, hdc around, sl st. 
Fasten off & weave ends.

Now we are making the beak 
using 3,00mm size hook
ch 5, sc across turn
sc first two sc and last two sc tog. turn
sc two tog. fasten off.

Now sew on two bottons (make sure to sew them on very tight) and then the beak.
Cut 5 strands of yarn (3 strands in the color of the beanie and 2 strands white) and tie tight on the top of the hat.

  12. Just finished the hat! I saw the error on Rd. 4...but I knew what you meant. =-) Instead of using buttons for the eyes...I just crocheted two black circles for the eyes, that way there are no worries about the buttons being a choking hazard.
